How To Use Do, Does, Did, Done, and Doing in English grammar?

Do forms in English:

Do (V1) - Did (V2) - Done (V3) - Doing (V4)

Do:

V1 (Verb Root Form) = Do (for First-person Singular and plural, second, third person plurals)
                                   = Does (Only for third-person singular)
In Simple Present Tense we use this as H.V (Helping Verb) as well as M.V (Main Verb)
Observe the following sentences.

Structure: Subject + do + Object

Example Sentences: (Positive)

  1. I do...
  2. We do...
  3. You do ...
  4. They do...
  5. He does...
  6. She does...
  7. It does...
  8. Ravi does...
  9. My friends do...
  10. Srinivas does...
If we add 'not' then we'll get negative sentences. Observe the following sentences.

Structure: Subject + do not + Object

Example Sentences: (Negative) - Do + Not = Don't

  1. I do not...
  2. We do not...
  3. You do not...
  4. They do not...
  5. He does not...
  6. She does not...
  7. It does not...
  8. Ravi does not...
  9. My friends do not...
  10. Srinivas does not...

Did:

V2 (Second form of Verb) = Did ( For all the Persons)
We will use "Did" in Simple past Tense as a H.V and M.V. Look at the following examples.

Structure: Subject + did + Object

Example Sentences: (Positive)

  1. I did...
  2. We did...
  3. You did ...
  4. They did...
  5. He did...
  6. She did...
  7. It did...
  8. Ravi did...
  9. My friends did...
  10. Srinivas did...
In the negative sentences, we'll add 'not' to make the sentences. Look at the following examples.

Structure: Subject + did not + Object

Example Sentences: (Negative) - Did + Not = Didn't

  1. I did not...
  2. We did not...
  3. You did not...
  4. They did not...
  5. He did not...
  6. She did not...
  7. It did not...
  8. Ravi did not...

Done: The past participle of 'Do'

We use 'done' in the perfect tense.

                 Subject + Will have/ Shall have + (V3) Done + Object  - Future Perfect

Note: For third-person singular, we use 'has' remaining subjects use 'have'
